  • Use eLicensing to expedite the processing of your application.
  • To confirm if DRE has received your application, first check your bank/credit card statement to see if your fee has been processed. Should you need to contact us, it's helpful to know the date your fee was processed.
  • Common reasons that processing an application is delayed:
    • Duplicate applications were submitted
    • Unanswered questions on the application
    • Course information not included
    • Awaiting fingerprint reports from the Department of Justice and FBI

* Licensees can submit renewal applications up to 90 days before the license expiration date, but renewals are processed in date received order. Renewal documents and fees must be postmarked no later than midnight of the four-year license expiration date to be considered on-time. If all renewal requirements are properly submitted, Section 10156.2 of the Business and Professions Code allows for continued operations under the existing license after its expiration date unless notified otherwise by DRE.
