2025 - AB 2992 Buyer-Broker Representation Agreements

The Department of Real Estate (“DRE”) proposes a set of new regulations to implement portions of AB 2992 (Stephanie Nguyen, Chapter 516, Statutes of 2024). That legislation, along with this proposed set of regulations, requires that buyer-broker representation agreements be executed between buyers’ agents and buyers and specifies, among other things, term length, timing of execution, and renewal of such agreements as well as when they are required. 2024 Annual Fee Review – Required by Statute

The Business and Professions Code requires the Department of Real Estate to hold at least one regulation hearing each year to consider its authorized fee structure. This year’s hearing will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Please see the attached Notice for details of the hearing.



2024 - SB 143 Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act

The Department of Real Estate (“DRE”) proposes a set of new regulations to implement its portion of the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act, enacted in California through SB 143 (Chapter 196, Statutes of 2023). That legislation, along with this proposed set of regulations, allows active duty military servicemembers and/or their spouses to register out-of-state professional licenses in California when the active duty member’s service transfers them to a California duty station. 2024 - SB 887 Electronic Delivery of the Consumer Recovery Account Application

The legislature passed SB 887 last year making it possible for applicants to deliver their Consumer Recovery Account application electronically to the Department of Real Estate (“DRE”).
